UK distributor Soda Pictures has picked up UK rights to Guy Maddin s The Saddest Music In The World and Damian Kozole s Spare Parts.Maddin s film, which made its North American premiere at Toronto earlier this year, stars Isabella Rossellini as a legless beer baroness who holds a worldwide contest to perform the saddest music in the world. It had a strong reception at the Times bfi London Film Festival, which wrapped earlier this month.Eve Gabereau, joint-managing director of Soda Pictures, negotiated the deal for the film with Sheena Macdonald, president of Toronto-based sales company Rhombus International. I am so pleased that Soda has popped into the picture as our UK distributor, said director Maddin in a statement. The UK city of Liverpool is starting a scheme for three feature films to be shot there in the run up to the 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations. N <a href=https://www.stanleycups.us>stanley cup</a> orth West Vision is partnering with the Liverpool Culture Company, the UK Film Council and the BBC for the Digital Departures scheme.Each of the three films will have a cash budget of $486,000 250,000 to be fully financed by the partners.Writers, directors and producers from the broader Northwest are eligible, and will work with experienced industry professionals.The features will be developed, shot and post-produced in Liverpool and will premier <a href=https://www.stanleymug.us>stanley mug</a> e in the city in autumn 2008.
